What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Techniques is a fantastic tool which enables us to free ourselves from:

  • blocked emotions (no matter how long we have experienced them)
  • limiting beliefs (I’m stupid, I don’t deserve happiness, I can’t do it…)
  • traumatic memories
  • and helps alleviate physical pain or illnesses.

EFT provides the tools you need to remove the disruptions in your body’s natural healing systems!

Here are just a few examples for which EFT can help:

How do you do EFT?

You learn to tap a sequence of chosen acupuncture points with your finger tips and at the same time you state the problem you want to solve. This allows blocked energy to flow again thus dissipating the negative emotion and/or the limiting belief which was held by the blocked energy. This can happen over a very short time period, it can even happen in minutes!

How does EFT work?

EFT is based on the principle that our bodies are electric. That is well demonstrated when you are submitted to an electroencephalograph (EEG) or electrocardiograph (ECG). The EEG records the electrical activity of the brain and the ECG records the electrical activity of the heart.

Our electrical systems are vital to our physical health. What could be more obvious ? When the energy stops flowing… we die. Ask your doctor, no one disputes it.

In fact, civilization has known about this for millenniums. About 5ooo years ago, the Chinese discovered a complex system of energy circuits that run throughout the body. These energy circuits or meridians as they are called are the centrepiece of Eastern health practices and form the basis for modern day acupuncture, acupressure and a wide variety of other healing techniques.

Now with this in mind, here’s the essence behind EFT:

“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system”

It might help if you compare the energy flow in your body to that of a TV set. As long as the electricity flows through your TV normally, the sound and picture are both clear. But what would happen if you took off the back of the TV set and poked a screwdriver amongst all that “electronic spaghetti”? You would disrupt or reroute the flow of electricity and an electric “zzzzzt” would occur inside. The picture and sound would become erratic and the TV would exhibit its version of a “negative emotion”.

In the same manner, when our energy systems become imbalanced, we have an electrical “zzzzzt” effect going on inside. Straighten out this “zzzzzt” by tapping and the negative emotion goes away. It’s that simple.

I’m well aware of how strange this may sound and how difficult it can be to believe, at least in the beginning. I wouldn’t believe it myself if I hadn’t experienced marvellous changes in myself and my clients after applying these techniques.

Lets sum up how a negative emotion is caused:

Step 1: distressing memory/event
Step 2: a disruption in the body’s energy system
Step 3: negative emotion

Please note that if step 2, the intermediate step does not occur, then step 3 is impossible. In other words if the memory does not cause a disruption in the body’s energy system then the negative emotion cannot occur.

This is why some people tend to get upset by their memories and some don’t. The difference is in the energy body being disrupted or not.

Who can use EFT?

There is no age limit! Every body can benefit from EFT. It is so easy to learn. With babies or small children we work on the mother as a surrogate.

EFT is such a valuable tool, every one should learn it! EFT can be used for small or big problems, old or recent.

The only thing about EFT is that you have to do it if you want it to work! It’s just like any tool, if you leave it in the box, it won’t help you! The more you practice, the better results you will get.

Who created EFT?

A man named Gary Craig took different elements from other meridian based therapies and had the genius to put some of them together, creating a simple healing protocol that everybody could use. EFT was born!
